Our approach to mentoring centers around family
|
The inspiration behind our name stems from the importance of family in Latino culture.
Primos, Spanish for cousins, is a term of endearment that is often given to close friends considered part of the family. Because relation and family are central to the Latino family experience, we strive to build a family foundation into the mentoring experience, inviting the family unit to become a part of the mentoring experience. We provide programming for parents and help create opportunities for mentors to get to know their mentee's family. We understand family support is crucial to student success. By focusing on family-like relationships, students are set up for long term success in many different environments. Our goal is for our mentors to be a positive presence in their mentees’ lives and achieve the status of becoming an honorary family member. Primos are an extension of family. |
