Alicia is a Dallas native and first-generation daughter of Mexican parents. Raised in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas, she learned to work hard and push herself as much as her parents did. Alicia graduated from the School for the Talented and Gifted in 2002 and went on to study History and Sociology at Southern Methodist University. She'd later return to SMU to receive her Master's degrees in Liberal Studies with a focus on Racial and Social Justice. An an educator, with 13 years of experience in the Dallas Independent School District, Alicia has seen firsthand the difficulties students and teachers experience in the public school system. Now a mother of 2, Alicia advocates for students across DISD, but also her own children.

Maria IzaguirreMentoring Intern [email protected] Maria Izaguirre is a Pleasant Grove native and a proud DISD alumna. She earned bachelor's degrees in Human Rights, Psychology, and Sociology from SMU. Before joining Primos Dallas as the Mentoring Coordinator Intern, Maria was the Program Specialist for the President's and Mustang Scholars Programs at SMU. She also held a Post-baccalaureate Fellow position with the SMU Human Rights Program. Maria is currently a candidate for a Master of Science in Counseling at SMU. When not working or studying, you can find Maria taking walks while listening to audiobooks, spending time with her dogs, reading, and trying new coffee shops in Dallas. |
Edith Silva GonzalezMarketing Intern [email protected] Edith Silva Gonzalez is a student at the University of North Texas at Dallas, pursuing Child Development and Family Studies with a minor in Spanish. She loves getting involved with her community as she has worked with other great organizations such as HWNT, Firme DFW, Volar, and ImmSchools. She has a passion for digital strategy and content creation. Currently gaining hands-on experience in social media, she is eager to contribute to impactful campaigns and further develop her skills in the field. |
